Las Vegas is a city famous for its gambling and its casinos, and one of the big ones is The Mirage. The Mirage is a Polynesian-themed resort in the heart of the action on the Las Vegas Strip. The Mirage opened in 1989 and was built by Steve Wynn who had made his fortune trading junk bonds on the Wall Street stock market. The Mirage was one of the three casinos that Danny Ocean and his crew robbed in the George Clooney version of Ocean’s Eleven. The resort also features regular performances from high profile entertainers – Cher’s 1991 “Live At The Mirage” extravaganza was filmed here. In this article we take a look at some of the most popular table games that you can play when you visit The Mirage casino in Las Vegas.
Baccarat
A simple game of chance, players can bet on the hand of cards held by the bank or the player. Both hands are of two cards only. The winning hand is the one which totals closest to nine. Picture cards or tens are valued at zero, all other cards are scored at face value. When calculating the value of your hand, if your two cards total a two-digit number then the last digit counts as the value of the hand – for example, if you have a 6 and an 8 (totalling 14) then the value of your hand will be 4. All wagers in Baccarat pay even money.
Blackjack
Always one of the most popular casino games, The Mirage casino offers lots of different Blackjack options in terms of traditional shoe games, continuous shufflers, single deck and double deck games. Blackjack is played as the the player versus the dealer, and the object is to get your hand as close to 21 without exceeding that number. Picture cards are valued at 10, an Ace may be valued as one or eleven, all other cards are counted at face value.
Crazy 4 Poker
This game features heads-up play versus the dealer and two bonus bets. You can triple down against the dealer with a pair of aces or better. Four aces trigger the top jackpot, two hundred to one for the Super Bonus and fifty to one for the Queens Up Bonus.
Craps
A fast moving and exciting game, Craps involves a crew of three dealers – each of whom have a specific task in the game, assisting players to place their bets while a selected player rolls the dice.
Pai Gow
This game is played with domino-like tiles. Four tiles are dealt to each player and the dealer. Dice are shaken and the total of the dice is used to determine which player received the first hand. The object of the game is to create two hands that are both higher than the dealer’s hand. Bets are paid at even money.
